Hygiene Tips For Going On Survivor

Greg Jacobs

After many hours of auditioning, meeting with casting directors, and taking a variety of personality tests, you've finally been chosen to appear on Survivor. It's been a dream for years, and now you have to get ready to fly of to some exotic locale and play the game. You've probably spent time thinking up how you are going to strategize and form alliances, but now you are realizing your going to be on camera in front of millions of people. This is bound to cause major anxiety. However, there are some things you can do to make yourself look as good as possible while on the show. Here's what to do.

Get A Facial

One of the things about Survivor that you might not know is that contestants are not allowed to wear makeup (or bring razors, which will be discussed later). So, you can't cover blemishes with concealer. Your face will be on camera, raw and exposed. The best thing to do beforehand is to make sure your skin looks as good as possible. This means eating clean and drinking lots of water, but another awesome idea would be to get a facial. You don't want to appear on camera with blackheads or other skin imperfections. A nice deep cleansing facial will help rejuvenate your skin and return a youthful glow. You should stop wearing makeup way before you head out so your skin adjusts to the lack of heavy makeup.

If you have several months before you have to fly out to the filming location, you might want to schedule a series of deep pore cleanings as well as a microdermabrasion session. This can help with small acne scars that you are very self conscious about. It's something you want to get done as soon as possible because you will want to stay out of intense sun for a few days following the procedure.

Have Electrolysis

Not only can't you bring makeup on Survivor, you also can't bring razors. So ladies (and some men) will want to get electrolysis. You don't want to be super self-conscious during a challenge where you have to hold your arms up in the air, worrying that the world will see your hairy underarms! You want to be able to focus on winning the immunity challenge. And of course, if you are lucky enough to make it far in the show, maybe even the final tribal council, you don't want hairy legs and underarm hair.

Even the guys will want to consider it. Men run around all day without their shirts on because of the island heat, and if a guy is the type to have a really hairy back, he might want it taken care of before hand.

The best way to make sure you're not too hairy out there is to get a series of electrolysis treatments. It's better than shaving or even waxing. However, you will need to undergo a series of hair removal treatments, so like the microdermabrasion treatments, you better start as soon as possible.
